Renovation of a canal lock
Renovation of a canal lock. The company "Umwelttechnik & Wasserbau" has been awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the Wedtlenstedt lock, the entrance lock to the branch canal to Salzgitter (Niedersachsen). Among other things, the lock walls in the upper part will be renewed at a height of 3.5 metres.
Over a total length of 450 metres, the weathered concrete surface will be removed by an ERC 600 rotator milling machine. The machine works on a CAT 315C equipped with two cameras. At least 35 centimetres of the old porous material will be removed. However, the milling depth must not exceed 38 centimetres in order to keep the costs for the material of the new surface as low as possible.
Between 5 and 8 metres of lock wall can be removed per day, depending on the number of steel girders used.
